Discerning what is of true value and fulfillment is vital for finding happiness and a life of fulfillment. Simply put, creating success on your own terms. This is the source of true motivation.
The wealthy life is grounded in living this, not just succeeding.
Focusing on these key areas can help you be motivated and conditioned like a true champ.
Create Your Plan for Each Day
Set a goal for yourself before starting your day. Most people start their day by reacting to others, and this is very unproductive. Instead you should be focusing on creating what you most want. What is most important for you to accomplish? Allow accomplishing the thing you set out to do be your first priority. This intention will be carried throughout your days until the day that you completely check it off your list.
Nothing is as motivating than realizing you have the ability to be an active driver in the way your day and life rolls out.
Prioritize Tasks Based Both on Urgency and Personal Fulfillment
As you begin to plan out your week, “chunk” your tasks based on your own value system. What would be the most fulfilling and biggest impact on your life right now? Work tasks, family tasks, social tasks and so on. Once you have organized these decide which tasks are the most important within each grouping.
This should result in you having a great plan that speaks specifically to what fulfills you and a sense of what needs to get done first in each life bucket. Achieve the important tasks first and ensure you are not neglecting any one life bucket.
Focusing on what your game plan in life is and why you are hungry for it are vital in keeping you going.
Schedule it & Set Deadlines
Now that you have prioritized your tasks by value of fulfillment and in all areas of your life, set deadlines for each task. Block out time and schedule your deadline. Leave extra time for those unexpected problems that can crop up. Then DO the work and stick to the deadlines.
Plan a Habit Review
Periodically, you should review your day-to-day efforts. Weekly and monthly reviews are helpful in seeing if what you planned is working for you. We all have habits and some take us closer to where we want to go and others take us away from our vision. Identify, those habits and patterns that do not support your overall vision, goals or strategy so you can change or remove them. What habits are more aligned with where you want to be? Objectively, look at your performance alone and without comparing it to anyone else’s. Your goal should be a consistent improvement from yesterday. As we look back on our past performance, it is easy in hindsight to see things we should have done differently. Don’t dwell on your failures but use these kind of insights to set new goals for the week or month. Focus instead on what you’re going to do next. This shifts you closer to problem- solving and away from problem identification. Resulting in getting you closer and closer to the best solution.
Count the Small Wins
Assessing your progress and enjoying the journey is critical to making a lasting change. Notice the small shifts of success, whether they happen mentally, emotionally or are visible physically. Appreciation and embracing the good along the way, compounds and makes you a bigger magnet for the larger abundance available. When you do succeed, allow yourself to enjoy that feeling of achievement. It also brings forth feelings of capability, confidence, competence and control. This process will train your mind to focus on goals, attain them and derive pleasure from a job well done.
It can be difficult to slow down, think and plan when you are stressed about getting more done. But investing this time in careful planning can save you time and even money! For each goal on your list, ask yourself these simple questions:
- Is this goal a priority for me?
- What area(s) of life does this goal influence a change?
- Is there a clear plan for achieving this goal? If so, is it the best possible option or is there a better way?
We can’t get more hours in a day but prioritizing what’s most important, allows us to manage our time better. Taking these motivating steps will be the keys to feeling like you’ve got all the time you need. Not to mention, positively impacting areas of achievement and what truly leaves you more fulfilled.
